Theology of Ministry

Soundness and Simplicity

Soundness.  At Beaver Baptist Church we seek to implement a biblically-based doctrine of the church, including our approach to leadership and church membership. This has been informed by what Mark Dever and the 9 Marks ministry call the "Nine Marks of a Healthy Church."To learn more, see Nine Marks of a Healthy Church. To learn even more,go to the "9 Marks"website listed on our Links page.

Simplicity. We have chosen to keep the structure of our church simple. We do not have many "programs." All of our activities relate to our purpose of being and making disciples as experienced in worship, edification, and mission (See Purpose). Any given church program may be good,in and of itself, but if it does not contribute to our purpose of making disciples,we will choose not to have that program. This helps us focus on doing ministry to the best of our ability.

Family Ministry We believe that the primary responsibility for nurturing children in the Christian faith lies with parents. The church has an important role to play in helping parents train children, but we want to focus on equipping parents to disciple their children. To learn more, see Family Ministry.

Worship We believe that worship is to be God-centered,Christ-exalting,and Spirit-empowered. It is not about our personal preferences. We have intentionally chosen to blend both "contemporary"music and "traditional'hymns. No matter the "style"of music,we emphasize music that focuses on worshiping God and proclaiming the gospel, instead of music that focuses on emoting how we feel, and what we are doing. For more information, see Worship.
